Convicted PM Gillani Formally Disqualified

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disqualified Yousaf Raza Gilani from holding office in Speaker Ruling case. He was convicted in April by the epic court of failing to peruse the corruption charges against President Asif Ali Zardari. He had argued that the President has constitutional immunity from prosecution.
Today’s court ruling has disqualified Mr Gilani from office and from parliament as a result of which the Federal Cabinet is automatically dissolved. Country’s Ruling Pakistan People’s Party is holding an emergency session in the President house to decide its next move.
